Since 7 am this morning we are on the crazy roads of North Lebanon , trying to fill as many questionnaires as we can for the Sciences Po research about syrians and lebanese feeling about safety.
For me it was disheartening to see where syrians refugees are living:tents of nylon, that they rent for 150$ per month.
A syrian in lebanon is forbidden from work. Curfews are imposed by some municipalities. It means they don’t have the right of movement.
More than that In Qualamoun young children can’t go to schools because their parents can’t afford the registration fees.
in Nabi Youchaa camp Haguar and her children are not on UNHCR lists. Her young boy of 7 months has otitis and she can’t afford the treatment.
and what they say as how are lebanese treat them: some are great others hate us.
I can’t express the feeling of that first day. The need to have a clear public policy for refugees is a must must! Must!
Inhuman treatment is not okay, Not Any Convention, Law, Right, or Constitution might Accept it, we need to find solutions and help refugees feel more welcome and Safe!!!!!
Merci Rita et bon courage
