#IWD2016, everywhere people are taking the #PledgeForParity , I can’t do it….

daily what I , as a young woman in Lebanon is Living is hell:

usually the top priorities are for me to Campaign for Women of my country to BE ABLE TO TRANSMIT THEIR NATIONALITY to their husbands and CHILDREN.

Usually the top priority is for me to scream :WE AS WOMEN need to have full equality in Marriage, divorce, adoption, INHERITANCE (which we don’t or because of our Rotten Personal status laws, or because of Practices aiming to prefer a boy to a girl , a brother on his sister, a man over with wife.)!

Usually my top priority for #IWD is for me to campaign for what typical women’s right movement in Lebanon has usually campaigned for ” Women in Politics”, “Women in leading positions”

What I am Campaigning for today , ON #IWD2016 and after almost a year living in the GARBAGE is for a CLEAN ENVIRONMENT IN LEBANON. #Planet5050 but for #Lebanon!

Do you know that we (women, men, children, elder) live in a river of garbage?

Pollution has eaten our WATER, pollution has eaten parts of our LUNGS, pollution made by US, HUMAN BEINGS IN LEBANON has turned what used to be ” the green Lebanon” to a GARBAGE BIN.

Today I will be busy campaigning for Women to have a leading role in Municipalities , as you may all know by now, it seems that the elections for the municipal councils in Lebanon are on May 2016.

The TOP priority of all Counciles should be an ENVIRONMENTAL SOLUTION to the garbage CRISIS.

it is not possible for children to all be sick for more than months, it is not possible for elder people in Lebanon to all have oxygen all the time now!

we need SOLUTIONS that are ENVIRONMENTAL FOR GARBAGE that is polluting our AIR, ATMOSPHERE, WATER, and Health!!!!! Solutions made by ALL SEGMENTS OF A SOCIETY WOMEN AND MEN.

Again, as stated in november 2015 , I repeat the Same Scream from LEBANON:

SOS big SOS an environmental / HEALTHY PUBLIC Policy is NEEDED NOW!!! Garbage is polluting air, water, underground water, streets….!!! Reducing Reusing and Recycling is a step, what is else needed?!!! Women with a clear Environmental vision and a Will to implement ENVIRONMENTAL SOLUTIONS?!?!!

LET’S DO IT!!!!

HAPPY  INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY #IWD #IWD2016 #IWDLEBANON

I am not panicking, I am thinking how we can stop microbes, poisoning clients and people in restaurants and food places in Lebanon. Kids love to eat nuggets and Macdo Nuggets are bad?!  There is not a proper law for food safety that sets standards for  what we eat  in restaurants in Lebanon. Our dear MPs have not voted for a law for food Safety in Lebanon, I just found that late Fuleihan proposed a law, but “In 2006, the law was debated in the council of ministers and sent to parliament for further discussion but there has been no action since. ” Also, as per the Daily Star in 2012, “Future Movement MP Atef Majdalani submitted  a draft law on food safety, saying it aims to modernize a sector which has failed to keep up with modern standards.” Again, Nothing happened and a law protecting people’s life has not been “Cooked”.

I checked the Official gazette, nothing was voted and published in it since then related to food safety, so is the law sleeping in Parliament drawers, while citizens are eating “bad” and poisonous food? Food that is ‘dipped in diseases and microbes’ as yesterday’s Minister Faour Said in his press conference? Does anyone has other information ?

as for the minister Abou Faour , Is this just a flash campaign from the ministry of health, “flash” as “flash mobs” or will they continue testing “without taking “Rendez-vous” from restaurants and eating facilities? how can Inspectors for food safety not be bribed? Will the ministry publish the details of the results of all tests done? And what were they “testing”? Hygiene, microbes, salmonella?

I checked if there is Non Governmental Organisations working on the subject, I just found one called LAFS  Lebanese Association for Food Safety , they are not very active as their website is not updated and their Facebook Page is sleeping since the “Labneh scandal”,  March 27 2014 I believe, here is a print screen.

The good thing I found on their website are the description of Symptoms and illnesses even though they don’t add the sources of their information. Below is a copy paste of what is related to that.

I am repeating my self, Food Safety comes First, we need to have a proper law that regulates the tests, the “kabssets” and proper system of implementation that will penalize those who brake the law.

Again, I am repeating my last questioning post related to Roadster a place I go to a lot, what is the take of Roadster related to the chicken that failed the test? Especially that the cover page picture of Lebanese association for food safety on Facebook  shows a partnership with roadsterdiner.

My question, is food safety truly respected at roadsters or it is just a communication campaign and branding issue?

as for my credentials : a normal citizen asking for her right for proper and safe food in a country known for its restaurants and hospitality and eating services and Tabbouleh!

anew study about corruption in 3 sectors in lebanon has been released.

i skimmed through it, it has been prepared by 3 consultants.

the study is in arabic .

for those who are interested here is the brief that is published on the undp website:

http://www.lb.undp.org/content/lebanon/en/home/library/democratic_governance/anti–corruption-study/

Corruption was the first instigator for the Arab revolutions; will it be an agent for change in Lebanon? Or is it rooted deeply in the political system and public administration where its beneficiaries are many and therefore difficult to eradicate? Corruption in Lebanon has reached alarming levels of damage to the needs and fundamental rights of citizens, such as water, health and education reaching a state where citizens are serving the interests of politicians. Lebanon is mired in a crisis of its political system and the legitimacy of all institutions in the last period of time spanning in nearly a decade, posing an urgent need to break the current situation through a radical change in the political system eliminating the risk of engaging in internal violence.
