About MadaMada is a non sectarian NGO established in Lebanon in year 2000 (www.mada.org.lb). Mada works with different groups in various developmental and environmental projects in Lebanon to facilitate dynamics of change based on endogenous and inclusive efforts as well as policies and regulations appropriate to local realities. Mada achieves this mission by:

·         Supporting marginalized persons or groups and providing a space for initiatives carried by actors who have the potential for change

·         Contributing to the establishment of relationships or effective partnerships between local actors and other stakeholders.

Through its activities, Mada tries to ensure long-term mobilization and to inspire new practices of leadership while contributing to the emergence of a culture of collective action and responsibility.

Mada’s activities are divided into three main axes:

Territorial approach: Since 2003, Mada acts as a local development agency on Hermel/Akkar/Dannieh, in close cooperation with municipalities and local communities, and has implemented several projects in socio-economic field, education, conservation, land use Planning and Ecotourism.

Platform: Since 2006, Mada supports independent initiatives by providing administrative and technical support via its platform.

Mada expertise: since 2008, Mada provides consultancy in various development and environmental fields in line with its mission and guiding principles

Mada is seeking a communication officer who will be in charge, under the supervision of Mada’s executive coordinator, of developing and managing Mada’s external and internal communications. This person will be contributing to the website; raising the understanding and awareness of Mada among partners, medias, Ngo’s and public. He/she will be working collaboratively with Mada’s team, and other stakeholders to ensure that Mada’s communication tools convey the importance and the impact of the work done.

The Communication officer shall perform the following functions:

· Coordinating Mada’s Website restructuration and redesign to make it more appealing with more consistency, interactivity, with a strong identity and ability to integrate web 2.0 tools.

The new website will reflect changes that had taken place at Mada and provide more relevant information about the projects and its members. The website should incorporate social media such as Facebook, Twitter and YouTube among others.

·         Developing and reviewing suitable communication tools for the association

(Brochure, business card, power point presentation …)

·         Developing suitable communication tools related to Mada’s membership system 

·         Relying on the use of the website and social media to mobilize volunteers.

·         Designing a newsletter with updates on Mada’s activities, materials and publications produced by the association (English and Arabic)

·         Producing the annual report based on information’s gathered from Mada’s staff

·         Manage the projects pictures data base

·         Carry out other tasks as assigned by Mada’s executive coordinator

·         Attending regular coordination meetings

Education and knowledge

·         Professional or university degree in Journalism, communication or related field.

·         Excellent knowledge in writing, editing, proof-reading and designing communication documents for public dissemination.

·         Experience in developing and implementing communications strategies

·         Experience with web design program and development, preferably using open source technologies.

·         Advanced computer skills, knowledge of Flash, HTLM5, CSS, Dreamweaver, Adobe Photoshop and CS6 will be a must.

·         Fluently in English and Arabic, French is an advantage.

·         Prior volunteerism and NGO experience is desirable

CRTD.A is announcing an immediate vacancy for the Gender and Equality Team Coordinator.

 

The Gender and Equality Team is entrusted with spearheading the Arab Women’s Right to Nationality Campaign, implementing the Leadership capacity building programme, engaging in CRTD.A’s work within the regional “Equality without Reservation Coalition” as well as developing and disseminating knowledge and communication material on gender equality in Lebanon and the Arab region.

 

 

Key tasks and responsibilities

 

● Provide support and accompaniment to the GET team members

● Develop action plans for the Nationality campaign and ensure implementation and monitoring

● Develop leadership and related capacity building programmes

● Provide timely and comprehensive reports on activities

● Liaise and collaborate with other CRTD.A teams

● Engage with CRTD.A national and regional partners

 

 

Key competencies

 

● Up to 5 years of experience in a related field

● A relevant university degree

● Excellent written and verbal communication skills in Arabic and English

● Ability to coordinate a small team and develop workplans

● Reliable and able to meet deadlines

● High interpersonal skills

تعلن مجموعة الأبحاث والتدريب للعمل التنموي عن حاجتها للتوظيف الفوري لمنسق/ة لبرنامج المساواة في النوع الاجتماعي.

 

تتضمن مسؤوليات منسق/ة برنامج المساواة في النوع الاجتماعي، دعم حملة “جنسيتي حق لي ولأسرتي” وتطويرها، تنفيذ نشاطات التدريب على القيادة النسائية، تعزيز مشاركة مجموعة الابحاث والتدريب للعمل التنموي في الحملة الاقليمية “لتحالف المساواة دون تحفظ”، تطوير التنسيق، التواصل، تطوير ونشر المعرفة حول المساواة في النوع الاجتماعي في لبنان والمنطقة العربية.

 

مهمات منسق/ة برنامج المساواة في النوع الاجتماعي:

 

– تأمين الدعم وادارة فريق المساواة في النوع الاجتماعي

– تطوير خطط عمل حملة الجنسية وضمان حسن المتابعة والتنفيذ

– تطوير برنامج القيادة وبناء القدرات النسائية

– رسم الخطط التنفيذية ووضع تقارير دورية حول سير العمل

– التنسيق والتعاون مع فرق العمل الاخرى في مجموعة الابحاث والتدريب للعمل التنموي

– التواصل مع شركاء وشبكة علاقات مجموعة الابحاث والتدريب للعمل التنموي في لبنان والمنطقة العربية

Une petite phrase qui peut passer inaperçue, dans un gros paragraphe de l’article du quotidien l’Orient d’Avril 2012 ( le 21 avril 2012 plus précisement).

Si les décisions adoptées hier par le Conseil des ministres ordinaire réuni au Sérail sous la présidence de Nagib Mikati (confirmer le prix de la « rabta » de pain à 1 500 LL après une très longue discussion sur le prix du blé ; amender la loi sur le contrat de location et allonger le congé maternité qui passe de 40 jours à 10 semaines…) restent relativement importantes, ce n’est pas ce que l’on retiendra de la réunion d’hier, mais plutôt les commentaires du Premier ministre sur les trois jours de débats de politique générale suivis du vote de confiance, dans la nuit de jeudi à vendredi, au Parlement. ”

Le Conseil des ministres a, en Avril 2012, donné son Accord sur l’allongement du CONGé maternité a 10 semaines!

oui…. cela reste une avancée, même si incomplète… le projet est un Projet de loi presenté par des parlementaires, au Parlement… donc la nécessité d’un vote en session plénière est de rigueur!

Alors, chers parlementaires, chers “metteurs de l’agenda des sessions parlementaires plénières”, Bougez vous, et mettez s’il vous plait l’amendement du Code du travail( article 28-29) et celui des fonctionnaires (article 38) sur l’Agenda de notre chère Eminente Assemblée!

les députés doivent légiférer!! et créer des lois Justes et équitables pour le  bien être des Femmes et citoyennes libanaises, au lieu de se perdre dans des discussions politiques futiles.

Les femmes attendent!! Notamment celles qui attendent de futurs petits et ptites citoyennes!!

Mikati : Certaines interventions au Parlement ont dépassé les limites d’une opposition responsable et constructive

« La confiance réaccordée au gouvernement doit être un tremplin vers davantage de solidarité au sein du cabinet et davantage de travail pour mener à bien la mission qui est la nôtre », a dit le ministre de l’Information p.i. Waël Bou Faour citant Nagib Mikati. Ce dernier a jugé que « certaines interventions ont dépassé les limites d’une opposition responsable et constructive », estimant toutefois que les remarques et autres idées des députés « doivent être prises en considération et étudiées par les ministres ». M. Mikati a tenu à insister sur la coopération entre législatif et exécutif, invitant les ministres « à ne pas être influencés par les critiques, même si elles étaient parfois illogiques, à y répondre scientifiquement et à traiter avec l’ensemble des citoyens, sans exception aucune », quelle que soit leur appartenance communautaire, en allusion aux critiques formulées dans l’hémicycle sur des pratiques anticoexistence et iniques exercées dans certains ministères.

« Le PM a rappelé que le gouvernement avait beaucoup à faire concernant le budget, les législatives de 2013, les nominations et les permutations, ainsi que sur les dossiers des ressources naturelles et de l’électricité. Il est persuadé que le cabinet va être de nouveau à la hauteur de la confiance des députés », a poursuivi le ministre Bou Faour, qui a révélé qu’un débat a eu lieu sur ces séances parlementaires. « Nous nous sommes entendus sur la nécessité de réduire les tensions et les atteintes à l’unité nationale », a-t-il dit, avant d’évoquer un compte rendu sur la situation des hôpitaux publics par le ministre de la Santé – un sujet auquel le Conseil des ministres consacrera une séance spéciale. De même, le ministre de l’Économie Nicolas Nahas a évoqué le dialogue en cours avec le syndicat des boulangers, proposant « trois solutions ». Il a été chargé de discuter davantage avec le syndicat.

Bou Faour : Il n’y a « rien » à fêter…
Enfin, Waël Bou Faour, dans une discussion avec les journalistes, s’est arrêté sur une « information rapportée par les médias selon laquelle le PM a offert de la knefé aux ministres pour fêter le résultat du vote de confiance ». « M. Mikati est généreux, surtout avec les produits de Tripoli, mais le sujet ne prête pas à la plaisanterie : il n’y a rien à fêter concernant ce vote de confiance », a-t-il affirmé, tout en remerciant les députés de l’avoir accordée. « Rien à fêter parce que l’intensité des crispations et des tensions et certains discours sectaires ne laissent présager rien de bon, et cette limite jamais atteinte jette, je le pense, des poids supplémentaires sur les épaules du gouvernement. Ce qui s’est passé prouve que ce gouvernement bénéficie encore de la majorité, mais la stabilité a de quoi s’inquiéter », a-t-il mis en garde.

It will bring together hundreds of passionate people, forward-thinkers, cultural creatives, activists and artists from Lebanon as all around the world for talks and parties in 72 hours of powerful gathering to share ideas, knowledge and creativity.

WHAT IS IT ABOUT?

It’s about understanding and celebrating Internet culture and all the aspects of open, decentralized and accessible forms of communication, exchange and creation. It’s about empowerment of individuals and networking of like-minded people. It’s about setting the values and new standards that will prevent any kind of oppression, censorship and surveillance for future generations. It’s about understanding alternative economic, cultural and educational models. It’s about Internet ecology and struggles to protect Internet as open and free territory for all of us. It’s about energizing sub-cultural groups and praising diversity that these cultures are bringing. It’s about promoting open access to software, hardware, information, knowledge, science, government, design and almost everything else that can be open. It’s about sharing. It’s about how to do it yourself. But mostly, it’s about cats doing flips, birds flying over the moon and robots making biiips.

WHAT WILL HAPPEN?

During the 3 days of the conference Beirut will become the world’s epicenter in exchanging progressive ideas and knowledge on Internet culture, society, technology, music and new media. The lectures and talks will be given by leading international stars in these fields, world-class bloggers and artists who will educate the audience on new forms of activism and approaches in using advanced technologies and the latest tools to create, influence and affect. Discussions will delve deep into the underground of the Internet subcultures and explore groups that fight for digital and human rights, free information flow and access, improving transparency, and protecting the privacy of fellow peers and residents. The event will be accompanied by an intensive music program, which will be simultaneously organized in several well-selected clubs and alternative venues in Beirut. Contributors and visitors who obtain one of 1500 unique free wristbands will get access to both day and night events where many local, regional and international artists will perform for audiences who will share vibes and energy to celebrate the Internet as open and free territory for all.

From 5th to 7th of October (Friday, Saturday and Sunday) 2012.

Yes. Even though the main venue is huge and several clubs are on board, capacity is limited, so it is important that you register for the event. Around 1500 unique wristbands will give access to over 80 talks, exhibitions, concerts and DJ sets, so we encourage you to register as quickly as you can. Moreover, we encourage you to contribute and help us make this event even better.

WHERE WILL IT TAKE PLACE?

Main conference venue is Solea V in Beirut – a dazzling and very hip venue promising to host large events, dripping with atmosphere. The center boasts a huge skylight, and an indoor tree under high ceilings. Night program venues, clubs and program are soon to be announced, so be sure to subscribe to the newsletter.
